The Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in USA, Steve Dei has called on members of the party both in Ghana and Diaspora to work in the spirit of oneness and recapture political power from the NPP government in 2020.
Delegates of the NDC elected Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo as the party’s national chairman. He had a stiff competition from a veteran party member, Dan Abodakpi; former Attorney-General, Betty Mould Iddrisu; former NDC General-Secretary, Alhaji Huudu Yahaya and businessman, Danny Annan on Saturday, November 17, 2018 to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
A congratulatory message signed on behalf of the NDC-USA Executives stated, “we call on all members of our great NDC party to join us in the spirit of oneness of purpose and sense of direction in this endeavor and look forward to working in tandem to reclaim power in 2020, so as to be able to reshape Ghana’s defective economy”.
The statement also emphasized that, “the experience of this Congress has re-energized and reinvigorated those of us in the Diaspora to do more and we stand prepared to do all we can for, “Together We Win 2020”. We call on all members of our great NDC party to join us in the spirit of oneness of purpose and sense of direction in this endeavor and look forward to working in tandem to reclaim power in 2020, so as to be able to reshape Ghana’s defective economy”.
Below is the full statement:
CONGRATULATIONS
On behalf of the National Executive Committee and the entire membership of NDC USA, I would like to congratulate and thank the Newly elected National Executives of the National Democratic Congress for their role in another successful Congress, and their resolve to serve our great party.
May you be guided by the Grace of the Almighty to lead our party to wrestle power from the NPP and help rescue Ghanaians from NPP’s perils and crisis, and lead us into a prosperous NDC’s
administration come 2020.
I rejoice with you today for, the delegates of our party have spoken in clear terms with their votes, they have placed on you, the onus responsibility of their franchise in trust that, you will protect them and their interests within the party at all times.
Your emergence as our National leaders at this moment in time, when our party seeks unity and cohesion for proper positioning towards the 2020 general elections, is not just a welcome development, but also a timely intervention and a good one for victory 2020.
We acknowledge with pride, the hard work and spirited campaign that culminated in your victory on Sunday, November 18, 2018, when the results were finally declared.
I want to cease this opportunity to congratulate all those who participated in this historical Congress, most especially, those of you who put up yourselves to contest for various positions, the over 13,000 delegates who were at the Trade Fair Site to cast their votes as well as the numerous observers.
We also say “ayekoo” to the organizers for a job well done. A Congress of this magnitude could not have been managed any better than you did. Congrats for a very successful and peaceful Congress.
The experience of this Congress has re-energized and reinvigorated those of us in the Diaspora to do more and we stand prepared to do all we can for, “Together We Win 2020”. We call on all members of our great NDC party to join us in the spirit of oneness of purpose and sense of direction in this endeavor and look forward to working in tandem to reclaim power in 2020, so as to be able to reshape Ghana’s defective economy.
Once again, congratulations.
Signed!
Steve Dei
