The deceased 52-year-old Sampson Tetteh popularly known as Yaw Alebe was a commercial driver at Kasoa-Opeikuma under the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly.

There was tension in the area on Wednesday, when colleagues of the deceased driver gathered some youth and planned to attack the suspected land guards, but the police intervened.

Narrating the November 7 incident to 3news.com, the son of the deceased, Solomon Tetteh said the attack was as a result of an argument which ensued between the deceased and two land guards.

“The two land guards boarded my dad’s 207 bus and refused to pay, and it led to an argument between the guards and the mate (conductor). When my dad interfered, they warned him not to interfere else they would hurt him.”

Incensed by the action of the deceased, the son said the guards followed his dad home inflicting machete wounds on him, not even screams and pleas from neighbors would stop them.

The attackers went further to destroy cars parked on a compound also belonging to the deceased.

The guards later called for backup where about ten other guards appeared on the scene of the incident, attacking other onlookers making it difficult for them to help the deceased.

Upon several fruitless attempts to save the deceased, one of his sons rushed to report the incident to the police in Kasoa.

According to Solomon, the police refused to go with him to the scene of the incident because they suspected that it was a false alarm.

However, the police came to the scene later after another eyewitness went and informed them about the killing, he said.

Meanwhile, two of the guards have been arrested with the help of some young men in the community.

The police have however assured the family of the deceased that they will do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book.
