Police found on them fake currency amounting to GHC14,000 as well as a machine suspected to be used for the production of counterfeit currencies.

The amount was GHC10 notes in 14 bundles with each bundle totaling GHC1,000.

Their names have been given as Dauda Issah, 31 years, and 30-year-old Osman Issah.

A third accomplice, Abdul Rahman Suleiman, believed to be hiding in either Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region or Tamale in the Northern Region, is wanted by the Police.

The two suspects arrested in a house at Adum in Kumasi are being processed for court.

Ashanti Region Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng, asked the public to be vigilant when trading in currency.

She called for public assistance for the police to get vital information that will lead to the arrest of counterfeiters in the society.

In a related development, the Nkawie District Police Command has also arrested four persons suspected to be trading in cannabis.

The suspects, 32-year old Akwasi Nicholas, 60-year old Abena Achiaa, 34-year old Ama Werekowaa, and 67-year old Kwaku Asamoah were arrested at Ahwerewa.

Exhibits retrieved from the suspects include seven jute sacks containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, two slabs of dried leave, 22 wrappers and two black polythene bags also containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

The exhibits will be sent to the Police Forensic Laboratory for analysis.

The suspects are currently with the Drug Law Enforcement Unit at the Regional Headquarters assisting in investigations and onward prosecution.
