Executives of the International Youth Empowerment Summit (iYes), led by its President, have paid a courtesy call on former President, Flt. Lt Jerry John Rawlings at his office at Ridge, Accra.

The visit was to officially inform the former president about iYes, and to seek advice as to how to embrace and approach the future and most importantly to extend an invitation to their upcoming conference.

iYes has contributed immensely to the national development of the youth and young adults in Ghana through its conferences, workshops and summits organised annually by its President, Dr. Brian Amoateng, a Ghanaian pastor based in London.

The National Director of iYes, Mr. Obed Duku, took the opportunity to enumerate the core objectives and vision of IYES, stressing on the fact that every young person in Ghana has a role to play in the development of the country.

“The future generation needs to be positively informed, educated and empowered to take over the nation in every aspect, and all these can be possible if the right teachings and training is offered,” he said.

He continued to elaborate on how the youth take the laws into their own hands in seeking to fight for their rights.

He noted that, all these things happen because the youth in the nation are not challenged enough with responsibilities and therefore resort to anything that will get them busy.

Mr. Rawlings pledged his support to the initiative, and encouraged them to expand and optimize their activities and visions, calling on the need to strengthen the youth of today with diversified talents to push them to the next level.

Furthermore, he called on the youth of Ghana to be awakened to action, holding the government responsible and accountable in delivering their promises.

He also promised to be present at the iYes Conference, which is scheduled for the 23rd-25th August at the National Theatre in Accra and is free to all.

About thousands of young adults and youths are expected to be at this year’s conference which features renowned pastors, motivational speakers, politicians and several celebrities such as Bishop Tudor Bismark (Zimbabwe), Dr. Frank Ofosu Appiah (USA), Prophet Daniel Amoateng (UK), Dr. Sonnie Badu (UK), Hon. Adwoa Safo (Ghana), Former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, ace journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas (Ghana), actor and politician Desmond Elliot (Nigeria) and many more.

iYes Ghana 2017 is in partnership with the ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Youth Authority.
