Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Sadick Adams says he only had to honour a call-up to pitch camp with the local Black Stars because he had received an invitation he has no control over.
Adams was part of the team which was involved in a deadly clash at Nkawkaw after a 0-1 loss to Inter Allies on Wednesday, July 12.
One person, Deputy Equipment Officer Thomas Obeng Asare, lost his life while several others including Coach Steve Polack and his assistant, Godwin Ablordey, were injured.
The team has, however, missed their last two premier league outings against rivals Accra Hearts of Oak and WAFA due to the conditions of the players.
Concerns have been raised over Sadick’s call-up to the local Black Stars.
Speaking on Onua FM, Sadick stated that he received a call-up two weeks ago which was after the accident but added that the authorities saw what happened and still invited him. Hence, he has no control over it.
“The accident happened but we had already been called about two weeks ago for camping for the local Black Stars.
“We had a call about two weeks ago to report for camping which was after the accident had happened.
“We went for assessment and review twice at the hospital and as we all know some players had serious injuries when the accident happened but some of us were not really affected.
“They saw what happened and we got a call-up so we had to come and represent our country so it wasn’t our will to do so”.
