The Aburihene and Adontenghene of Akropong Traditional Council, Nana Otuobour Djan Kwasi II, has denied accusing the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin and other two paramount chiefs in Kyebi of involving in illegal mining.

The Aburihene explained that, his comments on the matter were misinterpreted in an interview he granted Accra-based UTV when he visited Akim Oda.

“My interview was taken out of context, it was a harmless interview on a national problem, but people have read diabolic meanings into it,” the Chief said at a press briefing.

The Aburihene was reacting to a press release issued by some aggrieved Kyebi Youth on Monday, asking him to render an unqualified apology to Okyenhene and the other two paramount chiefs.

At the briefing, the Chief said “every town has youth groups, Kyebi has theirs and Aburi also have its youth, but the trend the Kyebi youths are taking is not healthy for community growth.”

“I have a lot of respect for Okyenhene and the Abuakwa State Council, so I will never insult or disrespect Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin because I pay homage to the Abuakwa stool, he is the overlord of the Ofori Panyin and I am under Ofori Kumah and the Adontihene of Akropong Traditional council, which is Ofori Kumah, so why would I insult Okyehene.”

“I only added my voice to a national problem on galamsey seeing that chiefs have a major role in stopping galamsey, what I said may be understood differently by people, but I must say I never insulted Okyehene, I have a lot of respect for him, and I advise that we should all put a stop to treating national issues with politics,” the Aburihene added.
