Zamalek have been ordered by world football governing body, FIFA, to pay their former Ghanaian striker Junior Agogo $450,000 over his long-standing unpaid wages.

The former Ghana international joined Zamalek from English side, Nottingham Forest in 2008 when the club was chaired by Mamdouh Abbas.

But nine months later Agogo terminated his contract over unpaid salaries and reported the club to FIFA. Agogo, who featured 11 times for the club, scoring 3 goals filed a writ against Zamalek but the Egyptians refused to heed to the calls by FIFA to pay the remaining wages.

The White Nights signed Agogo from English club Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2008 for £750,000. He was supposed to receive 1.5 million euros during the duration of his three-year contract with the club.

However, his contract with the club was canceled prematurely after the club failed to fulfill their obligations toward him. After spending only nine months, Junior Agogo ended the contract over unpaid salaries and moved to Apollon Limassol in Cyprus.

Zamalek was instructed by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to pay Agogo 807‚000 Euros which was the unpaid salaries of the Ghanaian during his time with the club. But after making part payment, the club took a decision to seek redress from FIFA.

The Egyptian side’s failure to comply with instructions has then forced FIFA to issue the latest warning. FIFA has ordered Zamalek to Pay Agogo $450,000 for owed arrears back in April this year or face a six points deduction.

Junior Agogo who suffered a stroke two years ago; after retiring from football, is still undergoing treatment for a disorder -Aphasia  – inability to comprehend and formulate language.

The Former Black Stars striker began his career with the Owls, playing three games for the then Premier League side between 1997 and 2000.

He was a member of the Black Stars squad that participated in 2008 African Cup of Nations which was hosted by Ghana. He enjoyed a cult following during his 27-game stint with the Black Stars of Ghana scoring 12 goals.

He also helped Nottingham Forest to promotion from League One in 2007/2008, finishing as the club’s top goalscorer as they finished
