He said the assurance given by the President Nana Akufo-Addo in state of nation’s Address would go a long way to help ensure that outstanding claims would be paid to enhance quality health care delivery.

Dr Sahibzada said this at the commissioning of GH¢350,000 modern Maternity Ward for the Alhmadiyya Muslim Mission Hospital at Agona Swedru in the Central Region.

He said the project came as a result of his Mother Nazi Muhammad Zai, a retired Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan and Member of Intentional Court of Justice who visited him here in Ghana and saw some pregnant women sleeping on broken beds at the maternity ward and decided to assist in the construction of  new maternity ward.

The ten beds modern maternity ward was jointly commissioned by Alhaji Maulvi  Noor Mohammed Bin Salih, Ameer and Missionary in charge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana and Mrs Cynthia Morrison, Member of Parliament(MP) for Agona West.

The project was financed by Dr Khan and his Mother, S. Nazi Muhammad Zai to replace the outmoded maternity ward established about 46 years ago.

Dr Khan said the NHIS owes the hospital 15 months arrears amounting to GH¢1.8 million and this has had a major effect on the operations of the facility.

The Medical Director appealed to the Minister of Health, Mr Kweku Agyeman Manu to use his good office to release funds for the payment of the outstanding claims owed by NHIS.

He said the hospital management had put in place excellent measures such as staff motivation, workshops and other related issues would assist the quality delivery of health care.

Dr Khan commended the Central Regional Directors of Ghana Health Service for their immense contributions and supports towards to the running of the hospital to render services to the people Agona Swedru and its environs.

Alhaji Maulvi Noor Mohammed Bin Salih, Ameer and Missionary Incharge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, said the effort of the Ahmadiyya Mission was to supplement the efforts of the government to provide good healthcare in the country.

The Ameer and Missionary In charge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana said the Mission would continue to support the provision of quality health care and adequate structures for education throughout the country.

Mrs Cynthia Morrison, MP commended Dr Khan and his mother Justice Muhammad Zai for their immense effort to provide modern maternity ward to the hospital.

She said the Dr Khan was an expatriate posted in by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission but had been able to raise huge sums of money to construct new maternity ward to facilitate health delivery.

Mrs Morrison assured the management and staff of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Hospital that government has plans to pay all outstanding claims to ensure the effective operations of the hospitals.
