Ghana is not happy with the team and their coach, after they crashed out of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup following a 1-2 loss to Mali in Guwahati last Saturday.

Ghana’s dream of winning the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup crashed on Saturday after Mali’s Eaglets defeated them 2-1 in the quarter-final clash.

The Black Starlets failed to avenge the 1-0 defeat the suffered at the hands of the Eaglets at the African championship in Gabon early this year.

Mali scored twice through Hadji Drame in the 15th minute and Djemoussa Traore just after the hour mark before Kudus Mohammed reduced the deficit for Ghana.

The Eaglets took the lead on the quarter-hour mark, as Hadji Drame broke in on the Ghanaian goal before putting his shot past Black Starlets goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim for his third goal of the tournament.

Ghana then had the ball in the opposite net just before half-time, however, Ibrahim Sulley’s effort was disallowed for a foul by team-mate Kudus Mohammed in the build-up. Just after the hour mark, Mali scored their winner through Djemoussa Traore.

The Black Starlets lost up to an amount of $5,000 winning bonus each after losing 1-2 to their Malian counterparts last Saturday. They were initially meant to receive $1,000 as bonus for each victory in the tournament.

But the Ghanaian authorities still paid the team $3,000 for the group matches and an additional $1000 for beating Niger in the 1/16th stage of the competition. Their defeat to the Malians meant each player would be paid $4,000

All fingers are pointed towards the coach of the Balck Starlets after their defeat. From sack threats to tongue-lashes, Fabin has been on the receiving end of massive criticisms.

Ghana U-17 Exit prompted his sack by across-section of football fans for being the longest ever serving technical handler at this age level.

Responding to the unwelcome development, Fabin said his fate solely remains in the hands of the Ghana Football Association(GFA).

In an interview with Accra-based Happy FM, he also revealed that he was offered a sum of $5000 to include a particular player in his final squad in the ongoing U-17 World Cup in India but refused.

He added that he was constantly approached by player managers, agents and club officials to accept their players into the national team.
