Ghana Needs A Ministry To Drive Attitudinal Change – Bishop Mensah

President of the Full Gospel Church International, Bishop Samuel N. Mensah, has advocated the establishment of a ministry or a department to drive social transformation and attitudinal change in the country.

He argued the fact that the country’s various presidents in the last six decades have all called for attitudinal change as catalyst for national development, is enough grounds for such a ministry to be set up.

The Bishop observed Ghanaians were losing their sense of value to the extent that in today’s world “we celebrate wrongdoing” than “upholding the values that defines who we are”

He said it was regrettable that in today’s society, people have resorted to making quick money while parents and guardians have failed to question or investigate the source of the wealth of their children.

Addressing the 13th Ghana Day service of the Emmanuel Mensah Church in Tema, Bishop Mensah wondered how a fresh university graduate could within a short period build a house and buy a car without having any meaningful job

“Instead of parents, friends, or relations questioning and investigating the source of the wealth, society rather celebrates him or her despite the means used to achieve the wealth whether good or evil,” he said.

He added “the values of respect, integrity, doing the right things has been thrown away. The current generation of parent were groomed with good values so how come they have thrown all away that they couldn’t pass it on unto their children?”

Bishop Mensah contended the fact that Ghanaians have not been able to change their attitude to bring about the required development clearly demonstrates that “attitude cannot be change by chance or leave it on auto-pilot”

In his estimation, it must be by intentional leadership drive and a campaign for change of attitude.

Bishop Mensah advised that for the president’s vision of Ghana Beyond Aid to be realised, “we need a department on social transformation and attitudinal change to spearhead this whole agenda.

“This will be a ministry or a department that will interconnect with all other sectors of the economy and they will provide that drive towards attitudinal change,” he suggested.
