Kwesi Nyantakyi – GFA President keeps going higher and higher against all odds…
Outspoken President of the Ghana Football Association and CAF 1st Vice President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been appointed President of Africa’s 2018 World Cup Committee.

Nyantakyi was appointed after a successful meeting set up the committee to map out a strategic plan to figure out how CAF can provide support for the African countries representing the continent in next year’s competition.
This simply means that the GFA president will preside over the first meeting on the sidelines of the draw for the FIFA World Cup next month.
It is important to note that FA Presidents of all the qualified countries – Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and Tunisia will also become members of the exco committee.
Nyantakyi who is also the first Vice President of CAF earned the top award despite Ghana’s failure to make it to the World Cup.

According to reports, this current appointment comes after the open-minded FIFA Council Member lobbied for several Ghanaians to get appointments in the continent’s football governing body.
It should be called to mind that Ghana FA Communication Director Ibrahim Sannie-Daara and Anthony Baffoe were recently named as members of the CAF Media Experts Panel and Deputy General Secretary of CAF recently.
Nyantakyi’s appointment now fuels his decision to bow out after his tenure in office comes to an end in 2019. The GFA president has in recent times faced massive calls by some stakeholders for his resignation as the GFA boss.
This is with respect to the Black Stars’ saggy performance at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), as well as the just concluded 2018 World Cup qualifier, among other irregularities.
But Despite such calls, Kwesi Nyantakyi has said he is not ready to vacate his position as Ghana Football Association president. According to him, he will voluntarily relinquish his position at Ghana FA when the time is due.
Kwesi Nyantakyi was elected as GFA president in 2005, succeeding Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe, and currently serving his third term in office which runs until 2019.
His reign at Ghana FA has in recent times been met with criticisms from football stakeholders who are asking for more, with regards to excellence and stability in Ghana football.
