Former Deputy Youth and Sports Minister is urging the Ghana Police Service to invite lawyer and leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko for questioning in connection with the murder of late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North.

According to Joseph Yammin, Otchere-Darko was quick to tamper with evidence when he decided to climb a ladder allegedly used by the late MP’s assailants at the residence.

Yammin was speaking to host of Abusua Nkommo in the wake of a decision by the Attorney General’s Department to file a process to discontinue the trial.

The two men standing trial for allegedly killing the Abuakwa North MP, Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu in February last year were discharged yesterday following the State Attorney’s plea of nolle prosequi.

Later, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Gloria Akufo explained investigations into the case involving the two suspects will be re-opened adding, the nolle prosequi was filed for lack of evidence.

But Joseph Yammin insists, the police investigators must invite Gabby Otchere-Darko, cousin to the late MP for interrogation.

He alleged, “Gabby as a lawyer knows very well that in such matters, you don’t have to go near the crime scene because you are most likely to interfere with evidence.”

“But Gabby went to the late MP’s house the morning of his murder and climbed the same ladder the murderers used with his bare hands…how would does he expect the police to get an accurate finger prints,” he asked.

“He is a lawyer and knows better than I do that he shouldn’t have climbed the ladder, but reasons best to known to him, he climbed the ladder without wearing any protective gloves,” Yammin alleged.

”So if the police and Attorney General really want to do proper investigations into the matter and gather enough evidence, they must invite Gabby and question him seriously,” he charged.
