FIFA have made Spanish football officials aware of their concern regarding government interference in their affairs, say reports.
A delegation from world football’s governing body, led by secretary general Fatma Samoura, met with Spanish football officials regarding the concerns according to a report in Associated Press.
The report states the meeting stemmed from elections being held at the RFEF (Spanish FA) to replace Angel Maria Villar, who was dismissed and jailed following corruption charges.
Juan Luis Larrea, who is currently in temporary charge of the RFEF, was one of those at the meeting although no details of what was discussed has been made public.
There are fears that a punishment for the RFEF could result in expulsion for Spain at the World Cup this summer.
