Abdul Majeed Waris was born on 19 September 1991, in Tamale, where he grew up with his family.  The ace footballer started his career at the Ghanaian Right to Dream Academy when he was twelve. The number 9 moved to England and joined Hartpury College, while simultaneously gaining a place at the Nike Academy.

Waris who also plays for the Ghanaian National team has played for five clubs so far in his career. They are; BK Häcken, Spartak Moscow, Valenciennes (loan), Trabzonspor, and Lorient.

Staring off at BK Hacken, the 25-year-old signed a four-year contract with the club for an undisclosed fee. He made his debut at the Swedish Allsvenskan side in March 2010 in a 4–2 home win against Trelleborgs FF. While at the club, he became the first Ghanaian to score five goals in a single top-flight game in Europe. He also became the leading goalscorer in the Allsvenskan with 12 goals in nine games.

Abdul Majeed Waris was named the Swedish Premier League’s player of the year; a feat which earned him lots of praises from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Waris was transferred in November 2012, to Spartak Moscow for an undisclosed fee. The striker made his RFPL debut on 10 March 2013, when he came on as an 82nd-minute substitute in Spartak’s 3–1 win over FC Terek Grozny. He scored his first PFPL goal on 8 December 2013, in a 1-0 away victory over FC Rostov. He was subsequently voted the Russian Premier League player of the week.

After a loan transfer to Ligue 1 club Valenciennes, Waris joined Turkish Süper Lig side Trabzonspor on September 1, 2014, on a four-year contract.

The striker made his Trabzonspor debut on 14 September 2014, in a 0-0 draw against Fenerbahçe. Waris in his debut at the club played 90 minutes and as a left winger in attack. He scored his first goal for the club on November 6, 2014. This was during the Europa League, in a 1-1 draw against Lokeren.

In August 2015, Waris signed a four-year contract with French Ligue 1 side Lorient on a transfer fee as €5 million.

According to reports, the striker might leave French outfit Lorient this summer. Waris is said to have been relegated from the French Ligue 1 after drawing goalless with Troyes in the second leg of the play-off game.

The attacker has already been linked with a move to FC Girondins de Bordeaux who has reportedly expressed interest in signing the 25-year-old.
