A 23-year-old student said to be a member of a syndicate that blackmails ladies and circulate their nude pictures on social media is in the grips of the Ahenkro police in Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti region.
He is said to have threatened to circulate a fake nude picture of one Sheilla Osei Mensah and demanded Gh¢800.
Named as Desmond Attipoe, the Ahenkro police have initiated investigations into his modus operandi after he was arrested last Saturday by four men at the Rockview hotel at Konum-Afrancho who later handed him over to the police.
He is said to be a computer technology student and presented himself as a lady on Facebook and requested to be a friend of Sheilla.
When he succeeded, he used his feminine status to solicit for enough information from the Sheilla and later sent another friend request as a whiteman and later asked to have Sheilla’s picture.
After that he then presented himself as Attipoe, picked a nude picture, edited it and put Sheilla’s face on it. He then sent it to Sheilla on WhatsApp and made the financial demands. He threatened to circulate it if Sheilla, the 21-year-old private business woman at Suame, failed to pay Gh¢800 or agree to have sex with him.
Arrest
With the help of his brothers and friends, Sheilla is said to have lured Attipoe to the hotel for sex where he was arrested and handed over to the police.
The Ahenkro police confirmed the incident to Graphic Online.
The victim on her part told Graphic Online that she was hoping that justice will be served.
