According to the ex-New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, he was not engaged in any fraudulent act as it appears painted in the letter written by British High Commissioner Jon Benjamin to the Speaker of Parliament.

Speaking in an interview on 3FM, lawyer for the former MP Kwabena Asare Atuah said an earlier letter written to the High Commission has since not been responded to.

“We will write to them again so they clarify what they mean by visa fraud.”

He said what the former MP is cited to have engaged in does not amount to visa fraud unlike the other cited MPs.

“The word ‘visa fraud’ is our issue,” Mr Yeboah Atuah mentioned on Wednesday, May 24 in the interview.

The former Asunafo South MP is said to have used his diplomatic privileges to get a visa for his daughter, Joyce.

But in his earlier letter written on his behalf by his lawyers, Mr Boakye denied securing a visa for his daughter.

He pointed out that he travelled within the said period with a private passport.

More so, he stated, his daughter secured her own visa and should have been individually held responsible for overstaying in the United Kingdom.

“How on earth does this amount to visa fraud on the half of George Boakye?” his lawyer quizzed on 3FM.

Mr Yeboah Atuah said they will petition the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have the British High Commission to come out with the right facts.

“They have to intervene,” he stressed.
