Among the wrecked structures were a wretched wooden pavilion used as dinning hall for the Zabzugu Senior High School and many primary and JHS schools in the notable storm hit areas like Lahanjali and Limanyilifon.

The terse storm which was very steamed according to residents crash buildings and uprooted roofings and trees leaving dwellers and their sherperds struggling for shelter.

Storm incidents are common in Zabzugu, district capital less than 30km Northern border with Togo, with millions of properties being lost seasonally.

Mr. Zakaria Yahaya, district coordinator of National Disaster Management Organization told Starr News the storm glided over the town at about 6:30pm Friday night amid political tension over an attack on the District Assembly offices by yet to be identified armed youth.

The incident happened while police in the area was forced on high alert after an angry youth vandalized the assembly’s properties in an illegitimate protest for all revenue collectors to be sacked for them to occupy.

The coordinator added that an inspection was currently underway to determine actual effects of destruction caused by the phenomenon.

“We are still going round taking records of the houses and so far we have counted more 50”, Mr zakaria said adding while some of the affected have moved to stay with relatives others are still staying in their partly ravaged buildings.

The displaced were perching with friends and relatives and according to the district coordinator relief items would be sought from regional level for the victims.

Last year the immediate past District Chief Executive described as “emergency situation” when similar incident ripped off roofs of more than six schools and caused havoc to lives and properties.
