Don’t Sit In Your Bedroom and Predict Victory – Martin Agyei Mensah To Mahama

Director of Elections of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah has advised President Mahama to stop deceiving himself that several pre-election polls have predicted victory for him in this year’s election.

President John Mahama has announced that several pre-election polls have predicted victory for him and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 7 December polls.

In an article, Mr Mahama said: “I am expecting a resounding victory in the upcoming elections as predicted by various polls we have conducted since June 2016 – a win for me, as President and a working majority in Parliament for the National Democratic Congress.”

“This victory will be a victory for Ghanaians and for those yet to be born. It will certainly not be my personal victory for a second and final term. It will also be victory for the teeming volunteers, students, the youth, workers, drivers, traders, businessmen and women, traditional and religious leaders who have contributed in diverse ways to bring us up to the strong position we find ourselves in today.

But Mr Agyei Mensah Korsah, who believes the NDC is embarking on a panic campaign to remain in power after failing the country, warned the President to stop taking Ghanaians for granted since they are fed up of his ‘lies’.

“President Mahama should stop deceiving us because we are just fed up. How can you say that polls have predicted victory for you? Which polls? He should continue sitting in his bedroom and predict victory for himself and he will be taken by surprise after the polls” he stated.

He maintained that since President Mahama and his NDC government took over a middle income Ghana in 2008, it is difficult to point to one area where there have been improvements; “every aspect of our nation has regressed”.

But Mr Agyei Mensah Korsah said the party’s failure to win the 2016 general election would condemn generations to a future of helplessness, hopelessness and wretchedness and therefore Ghanaians should give the NPP a nod in the upcoming polls.
