Lawyer for the 13 members of the vigilante group, Delta Force, who are standing trial for assault of a public officer, Frederick Kankam Boadu, says the defence team is growing impatient due to the level of delays in the case.
For the sixth time, the case was Tuesday adjourned to October 10 by the Kumasi Circuit Court due to delays in advice from the Attorney General’s Department.
He thus prayed the court presided over by Ms. Mary Senkyire to grant them an adjournment until October 10 which the court obliged.
The 13 accused persons were arrested after they stormed the office of the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator and allegedly assaulted him in the process.
He was prevented from performing his duties as he was yanked from his office on Friday, March 24, 2017.
They were arrested in March this year and put before court but hearing is yet to start, something the defence counsel say they are not happy about.
Frederick Kankam Boadu told TV3 that they are growing impatient with the adjournments and would be forced to seek legal action if it continues this way.
“We understand that investigations have to be done diligently but our patience will not run forever because we will start taking the legal actions available to us. The adjournments are becoming too many,” the lawyer said.
The 13 accused persons have pleaded not guilty to assaulting a public officer, conspiracy to assault, and unlawful damage, and have been granted bail.
