“Cars 3” earned 21.3 million U. S. dollars internationally, and the combined total income is 74.8 million U.S. dollars, according to studio figures collected by comScore.

The third franchise adds another number one debut to Pixar’s amazing track record. The G-rated film follows in the tire tracks of 2011’s “Cars 2” (66.1 million U. S. dollars debut) and 2006’s first installment (60.1 million U.S. dollars debut).

The computer-animated comedy film is directed by Brian Fee, a storyboard artist on the first two franchises, and stars the voices of Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Armie Hammer, Nathan Fillion, Kerry Washington and so on.

“Wonder Woman” of Warner Bros. continues its strong performance in box office with an estimated 40.7 million U. S. dollars in its third weekend in North America. The latest DC Comics superhero movie, directed by Patty Jenkins, brought in 274.6 million U.S. dollars after just 17 days in theaters through Sunday in North America and 571.8 million U.S. dollars worldwide.

Lionsgate’s “All Eyez On Me” opened in third place with an estimated 27.05 million U. S. dollars. The biographical drama film about hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur is directed by Benny Boom. Titled after Shakur’s 1996 fourth studio album of the same name, the film release date aligns with Shakur’s 46th birthday.

Universal’s “The Mummy” placed fourth with an estimated 13.9 million U. S. dollars in its second weekend. Entertainment Studios’ shark tale “47 Meters Down” finished fifth with an estimated 11.5 million U.S. dollars in its debut weekend. Enditem
