A statement under the signature of the constituency Communications Director, Nana Aduse Poku expresses the party’s solidarity with the MP while calling on the police “to do their utmost best to bring the perpetrators of this obnoxious act to book”.

The residence of the MP and former Brong Ahafo regional minister, Eric Opoku, was attacked by thugs wielding cudgels and other lethal weapons resulting in at least four persons sustaining severe injuries and property vandalized.

According to Nana Aduse Poku, the District Chief  Executive of the area, with the help of some NPP executives has worked hard to bring about peace and tranquility in the Asunafo South district. He said the party will not tolerate any “insipid acts that will taint the success they have chalked”.

He indicated the people of Asunafo South are peace loving people and that they need same for their economic activities to thrive, for which reason they will protect it.

“Peace is a priceless commodity and we would jealously guard it”, he said.

The Communications Director also cautioned that the name of the constituency must not always be in the limelight for the wrong reasons considering that Sankore, a community in the area, was fraught with violence some time ago. He said such acts should not happen again.

“It’s our hope that this would be the last time something of this nature would happen in our dear constituency” he pleaded.

He maintained that the constituency should be known for its good deeds and gainful strides it is making in the area of good governance.

He added that they have confidence the police will deliver on the matter.

“We trust the Police to do a good job on this case”

Meanwhile, the police say, “some names have come up and we will do everything possible to get the perpetrators arrested”.
