Relatives and friends of the victim of Tuesday’s Alajo shooting have petitioned the Attorney General, the Interior Minister and the Inspector General of Police to ensure that justice is not delayed.
A brother of the deceased, Daniel Sefah, feared justice may be sacrificed as the suspect is allegedly being given a kingly treat at the police station due to his self-acclaimed status.
The death of Richard Yaw Boadi, a junior master at a mechanic yard at Alajo junction, came to many as a shock.
Richard Yaw Boadi was shot at close range whilst at work late Tuesday by a self-acclaimed businessman, Charles Nana Yaw Frimpong.
The accused, during a scuffle with a trotro driver over access way at the garage, pulled a foreign pistol, gave a warning shot and his second attempt went straight into the lower abdomen of the deceased, who was few steps away from the spot.
Doctors at the Accra Regional Hospital managed to successfully carry out surgery to correct a raptured kidney and intestines but the deceased died late Wednesday.
Family, friends and co-workers of the deceased took to the streets Thursday to express their anger over the untimely “senseless” killing.
Again they claimed pressure is on the District Command to transfer the case because the alleged self-acclaimed public status of the accused, raising fears of possible justice delay.
The brother of the deceased lamented the effort by some powers to transfer the case from public eye in order to sacrifice justice.
According to him, the accused claimed to be a national security operative and highly connected politically.
Mr Sefah then pleaded with the Interior Minister, Attorney General, Inspector General of Police and the Director General of Police CID to ensure speedy delivery of justice in the case.
He vowed to use all means to ensure justice and called on the media to support them in the fight for justice.
The accused has, meanwhile, been remanded into police custody by an Abeka Magistrate Court to re-appear on Monday.
