President Nana Akufo-Addo’s daughter, Edwina Akufo-Addo, has denied ever being involved in the scandalous BOST contaminated oil saga, and demanded an apology from the NDC member who made the ‘false’ claim.

Sammy Gyamfi was reported to have said on Asempa FM, that Edwina is rumoured to be “deeply involved” in the contaminated fuel issue involving the Bulk Oil Storage & Distribution (BOST).

“I am hearing rumours that one of Akufo-Addo’s daughters, Edwina, is deeply involved in the matter so is it the reason why he is silent? This BOST issue can’t be swept under the [carpet], looking at its gargantuan nature,” Gyamfi was quoted to have said last Friday.

But Edwina has categorically denied the claim, which she said is false and an attempt by the NDC “to tarnish the image of my father.”

She said she has “no relationship with any of the two companies, Movenpinaa Energy and Zupoil,” which bought the contaminated fuel.

“I have done NO BUSINESS with BOST or its MD, Alfred Obeng Boateng, and can, therefore, not be in a position to be described as “deeply involved” in this transaction or any other transaction whatsoever with BOST,” she stated.

Ms Akufo-Addo said further that she has never had any interaction with any of the two companies involved or any personalities connected with these two companies.

She said: “I have no business in the petroleum sector, either upstream or downstream, and have no commercial interest with BOST, Movenpiina Energy or Zupoil.”

The allegation, she claimed is targeted at President Akufo-Addo, whose name she said the NDC has since 2008 tried to smear without success.

She said “one would have hoped that they would have learnt their lessons by sticking to the facts and telling the truth, rather than propagating falsehoods”.

Ms. Akufo-Addo is consequently demanding “an unconditional” apology and a retraction of the said story about her in order to bring clarity to the issue regarding her alleged involvement.
