According to the Police, the action of the two deputy Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye and Samuel Abu Jinapor, which the musician considered to be corrupt,  was rather transparent and devoid of corruption.

On August 27 this year, the musician known in real life as Kwame Asare Obeng claimed in a Facebook post that the two deputy Chiefs of Staff were corrupt and thieves.

He was subsequently invited by the Police CID to assist in investigations at which point he denied alleging the two were thieves and or received bribes.

A-Plus however maintained his claim of corruption against them, grounding his allegation on the fact that the two staff at the presidency interfered in the management of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

But the Police CID said on Monday that after its comprehensive investigations into the matter, it established no basis for such allegations.

It said though it was established that the two intervened in a matter between Unibank Ghana Limited and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, they did legitimately.

Unibank was said to have issued a petition to the effect that the management of Korle-Bu abrogated an existing contract the bank had with the Hospital without any reason, which the bank considered unfair.

Mr Asenso-Boakye and Mr Abu-Jinapor among others intervened in the matter to seek clarity from the management of the Hospital regarding the said petition, the Police said.

“That their intervention was transparent, born out of the protection of the public interest and consistent with their duties as chiefs of staff,” a statement issued by the Police Monday concluded.

It added: “from the foregoing, the allegation of corruption was found to be baseless, unsubstantiated and without credibility”

The statement however, was silent on any possible action to be taken against the musician who was highly criticised for the manner he made those allegations against the two.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to discharging its mandate “without any fear or favour”
