President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Former President John Agyekum Kufuor over the latter’s recent award from the University of Hull.
The former leader was decorated with the first ever Wilberforce World Freedom Medal from the University’s Wilberforce Institute.
The award is in recognition of Mr Kufuor’s “huge contribution to really putting Ghana on the map, politically and socially”, and also “raising its profile as a centre of democracy and good governance”.
In a statement on Monday, President Akufo-Addo – calling the former president “my former boss” – said the award is well-deserved.
“The Ghanaian people acknowledge with gratitude the honour that has been done them by this award,” he stated.
He asked for God’s blessing of “long life and good health” for Mr Kufuor.
