Aduana, Kotoko Get Gov’t Support As CAF Campaigns Begin

The Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah, has tasked the two clubs representing Ghana in African club competitions to go and make the nation proud.

Dormaa-based Aduana Stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be playing in the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup respectively this weekend.

The Minister, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua Constituency in the Ashanti Region, told journalists at a press briefing that the government is committed to support the teams shine Africa.

“We are praying they play in the continental competition and do exploits,” he said.

“For some time now, the performance of our clubs has dipped at the continental level. What we anticipate is that they go and play well to redeem our lost glory. So they have our support as government.”

Asante Kotoko will welcome CARA Brazaville of Congo to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium while Aduana Stars will travel to Egypt to face Libyan side Al Tahaddy.
