The Minister of State in charge of National Security, Mr Bryan Acheampong, has donated a brand new pick-up vehicle to the Kwahu East District Police Command to aid the Police in its duty of protecting lives and properties in the district.

The donation of the vehicle is in fulfillment of a campaign promise made by Mr Acheampong, who is the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, in the run-up to the 2016 general elections.

District Chief Executive for the area, Isaac Agyapong, who presented the vehicle to the Police on behalf of the MP, observed the Police in the area have been struggling in their operations due mainly to lack of transportation among others.

“We want lives of people here to improve; security is my number one priority. Officers at Kwahu East District have been struggling in their operations, particularly due to lack of transport resources, and I hope by donating this vehicle, we’re easing the burden,” the DCE said.

Eastern Regional Police Commander, Regional Commander, DCOP Simon Yaw Afeku, who received the vehicle on behalf of the District Police Command, Regional Commander, thanked the MP for the gesture, describing it as a sign of patriotism.

He urged the officers to put the vehicle into good use by serving the communities in the district better.

“We want people who are committed to support the Police so that together, we tighten security in Kwahu. The police is facing a number of issues and transport issues are common. Sometimes we’re accused of arriving late at crime scenes [but] the government alone can’t solve all the problems. With this vehicle, we hope security will improve in this area,” he said.

DCOP Afeku also appealed Ghanaians to support efforts by the police through community policing to ensure improved relationship between the police and members of the community.
