Ghana’s efforts to strengthen its legislative framework, as part of broader plans to boost FDI and make growth more inclusive, will be mapped out in a forthcoming report by the global research and consultancy firm, Oxford Business Group (OBG).

The Report: Ghana 2018 will explore the government’s decision to channel funds into the country’s districts, which it hopes will help reduce regional inequalities between rural areas and urban centres.

OBG’s publication will also include in-depth analysis of the latest developments on the public-private partnership bill, which is expected to be made law this year, in line with a national drive to attract investment for a raft of infrastructure and services projects. Other topics to be examined include the measures that Ghana is both implementing and considering aimed at enhancing the country’s business environment in a bid to boost inflows.

AB & David Law Firm has signed a further memorandum of understanding (MoU) with OBG for its forthcoming publication. Under the MoU, the company, which is a longstanding partner of OBG, will collaborate on the Law Chapter of The Report: Ghana 2018.

Commenting after the signing, Isabel Boaten, managing partner, AB & David, said she was delighted to be teaming up with OBG once again and contributing to its coverage of Ghana’s evolving legal framework.

“Our clients and, indeed, the broader business community, look forward to Oxford Business Group’s reports on Ghana, recognising the valuable part they play as a reference for the opportunities emerging across key areas of the economy, such as finance, infrastructure development, energy and general investments,” she said. “With progress evident on several of the government’s major initiatives, such as its ‘One District, One Factory’ programme, we expect to have plenty to share with the Group’s team and readers.”

OBG’s Country Director, Shadeh Olivia van Esch, welcomed AB & David’s representatives on board, saying she was confident that their input would provide business leaders with a valuable understanding of the legal and regulatory changes under way in Ghana and how they could impact investment decisions.

“AB & David’s team has in-depth knowledge of both the domestic laws in Ghana and the broader pan-African legislative landscape,” she said. “I’m thrilled that our team will once again benefit from the law firm’s expertise, at a time when Ghana’s efforts to usher in the legislation needed to attract new investment are advancing.”

The Report: Ghana 2018 will be a vital guide to the many facets of the country, including its macroeconomics, infrastructure, banking and other sectoral developments. The publication will also contain contributions from leading representatives. The report will be available in print and online.
