As the 73-year-old performed the Pink Floyd song Pigs, Mr Trump’s face appeared on the massive video screen above the stage.

Meanwhile, a parade-sized balloon shaped like a pig floated above the audience.

Waters, a co-founder of Pink Floyd, and The Who closed the three-day festival in Indio, southern California.

The event, held in the same place as Coachella, is nicknamed OldChella because it caters to the baby boom generation and features a lineup of rock legends.

Over three days, the festival also saw performances by The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney and Neil Young.

It marked the first time all six have performed at the same event.

Desert Trip is aimed at an older and wealthier crowd than most music festivals, and boasts gourmet dining, air-conditioned bathrooms and a museum-style photo exhibit of the rock icons performing at the show.

The Rolling Stones headlined the first night and covered the Beatles’ hit Come Together.

Mick Jagger, 73, introduced it by saying: “We’re going to do a cover song of some unknown beat group.”

McCartney in return paid tribute to Stones with I Wanna Be Your Man, which McCartney and Lennon wrote for the Stones in the early 1960s.

The 74-year-old also played a few bars of Foxy Lady to honour Jimi Hendrix, and at one point was joined on stage by Neil Young.

“Thank you, Neil,” McCartney said when his friend, 70, left the stage.

“I love that boy!”
