Something bizarre happened on a football touchline this week… a manager decided to tackle a player during a derby game!
The incident took place in the Clasico Nacional, a derby contested between Club America and Chivas in the Mexican Liga MX.
A must-win game for both sets of fans and clubs, Club America found themselves trailing the game 1-0 before this strange incident happened.
Chivas right back Jesus Sanchez went on the counterattack, after Club America had pushed players forward.
It looked like the player had lost control of the ball as it rolled towards the touchline, but just before the whole ball crossed the line he managed to get it back in play… at that moment Ricardo La Volpe, the opposition manager, stepped out of the technical area and took the ball off the player!
Unsurprisingly, the manager saw red for his actions, and it seems it could also have been the last game he has managed for the club.
