Sharma, who was responding to questions from media about the safety of tourists in Agra at a press conference held at the Circuit House, said: “We are distributing advisories to foreign tourists at the airport that females should not wear short dresses and skirts for their own safety.”

He also claimed that the advisory pamphlets for tourists had a description of Indian culture which is different from Western.

The minister also urged tourists to click snaps of number plates of taxis and other mode of transports they use in order to keep a record in case of any untoward incident. He said women should also refrain from going out alone during the night.

The minister later clarified that he is didn’t mean that western culture is wrong and asked media to not to misinterpret his words.

Sharma who also visited Vatsalyagram in Vrindavan on Sunday said that Samajwadi party will eventually split into two groups, one led by Akhilesh and the other by his uncle, Shivpal Yadav. “Such a split between the “chacha-bhateeja” would be good for the BJP,” he said adding that Akhilesh was only “tolerating” Shivpal Yadav because of his father.

Attacking BSP supremo Mayawati, Sharma said she is an epitome of corruption and would eventually go to jail. He said only the BJP can provide a clean government.
