– Egypt and Cameroon are set to meet for the 10th time in the African Cup of Nations; the Pharaohs winning four games to Cameroon’s three in that time (D2 – including a penalty shootout victory for Egypt).

– This will be the third time Egypt and Cameroon will face each other in an African Cup of Nations final; the Pharaohs went on to lift the trophy after both of the previous meetings at this stage of the tournament (1986 on penalties & a 1-0 victory in 2008).

– The Pharaohs are making their eighth appearance in an African Cup of Nations final as Egypt (excluding 1959 edition as United Arab Republic); only failing to lift the trophy once across those outings (1962).

– Cameroon are set to record their seventh final in the African Cup of Nations; being awarded the trophy after four of their six previous final matches (1984, 1988, 2000 & 2002).

– Despite progressing all the way to the 2017 final, Egypt are the only side yet to concede a goal in the first half in this edition of the African Cup of Nations.

– Egypt have already won this tournament on more occasions than any other side (6, excluding 1959 edition as United Arab Republic), including in each of their last three participations (2006, 2008, 2010).

– Egypt have gone 24 AFCON games without defeat (W18 D6), last losing in the 2004 tournament (v Algeria) and have only conceded two goals across their last 10 matches in the African Cup of Nations.

– Cameroon have reached the 2017 final having scored only five times in their five games to this point whilst Egypt have only recorded four goals in their five outings in this edition; the Pharaohs are yet to score more than once in a game.

– Three of the last four goals recorded by Egypt have seen the direct involvement of Mohamed Salah (two scored and an assist).

– Regardless of who wins this game, we’ll see a manager lift the AFCON trophy at their very first attempt as this is both Héctor Cúper’s (Egypt) and Hugo Broos’ (Cameroon) first managerial experience in the African Cup of Nations.
