Carlos Gomez hit for the cycle for the second time in his Major League Baseball career on Saturday as the Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-3.
Gomez went 4-for-4 and completed the cycle with his two-run home run in the seventh inning.
The blast off Angels pitcher Jose Valdez put the Rangers ahead 6-2.
Gomez doubled in the first inning, singled in the third and had a run-batted-in triple as part of a four-run fifth inning that saw the Rangers erase a 2-0 deficit.
He first hit for the cycle — producing a single, double, triple and home run in the same game — in 2008 with the Minnesota Twins.
Gomez’s cycle was just the 10th in Rangers’ history.
His feat helped make a winner of Rangers starting pitcher Yu Darvish. The Japanese star struck out 10 and allowed two runs — one earned — on three hits in six innings.
Darvish had to work around three walks in the sixth inning, but got Ben Revere to pop up with the bases loaded. Darvish threw 125 pitches, his most since May 9, 2014, when he threw 126.
