Since the organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) introduced the ‘Best Rapper’ category in 2010, it has been keenly contested – only on paper, but in reality, Sarkodie has dominated that category from ‘jump’!
For that category, there seems to be no competition as the ‘RNS’ hitmaker has won it a record 4 times – 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016.
The only 3 rappers to have won it are Trigmatic in 2011, M.anifest in 2013 and E. L in 2015.
For the 2017 edition of the Awards, which is slated for the Accra International Conference Center on April 8, 2017, Sarkodie has to, once again shrug off competition from E.L, M.anifest, FlowKing Stone, Medikal and Yaa Pono.
Another win for Sarkodie will kill all doubts concerning his legacy as a legendary rapper and as a top winner of the VGMA.
