God has shown to Ghanaians some undeserved mercies of granting the Nation peaceful elections on December 7, 2016. But since Ghanaians will always be Ghanaians, the now President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has come under the critical watchful eyes of his citizens which the Creative Arts Industry is very much part of.

Flex newspaper in its first publication for the year 2017, has approached, a leading member of GHAMRO cum movie producer, Ahmed Banda better known as Bandex, to bring to Ghanaians his views on the new government sworn in.

In his submissions, Bandex drives at a positive rail for the Creative Arts industry under the governance of President Nana Addo.

He says there will be fruitful yields for the industry because the President started talking about the Arts Industry way back in 2008 when he organized a show at the Labadi beach with some musicians which gained some backlash from the citizens but employed the immediate past government to acknowledge the Creative Arts.

He stated the Creative Arts have over the years been under the same umbrella as Tourism and Culture and it will be to his delight if these sectors could be a branch on its own.

“I would want these sectors to be separated from each other to be on their own. But if he wants to maintain these sectors I will suggest a minister but three deputies, each assigned to a specific sector.”

In an explanation to this, he said, these deputies should have in-depth knowledge in the assigned sectors given them so they can effectively discharge their duties and give a good report to the minister.

“If the President should go on with the same old trend of a minister and a deputy, then it should be one who has all sectors on board and not only the Arts or Culture.

He should be one who is ready to listen to the masses, understand the plights of the people as well as hammer on the promises made by the government to the government,” he chipped in.

Elaborating on some of the promises made by the sitting government, Bandex voiced out that, there will be a new theatre in Kumasi, Sunyani and Tamale which according to him will serve as a venue for events in those areas.

He said there will be less stress if people of Bolga, Bawku or Wa, gather at Tamale for a show if there is a theatre put up there.

He continued that, the establishment of a copyright court, for him, will be a huge plus for the Creative Arts because just a handful of judges in the normal courts understand copyrights issues.

He stated that the industry has been struggling in getting this, and if it should be put in place there will be enough education pertaining copyrights and a proper means of extorting money from wrong doers instead of they being set free at the usual courts.

Bandex in his final words admonished Ghanaians to rally behind the new government whether in opposition or any other political party.

“The negativity, backbiting, and ‘the pull him down’ attitude on radio and TV must stop. Both rise and fall of the nation won’t only affect the ruling party but will as well harm each other person as citizens. We the Creative Arts are not politicians but are in to add numbers to the politicians. Now that it’s all over, let’s hit the road by coming together to remind the President of his promises which I have hopes he, His Excellency, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo will do”
