Fashion shows are hardly a part of the entertainment programs in the Northern part of Ghana. This notwithstanding some individuals are pushing to ensure that it becomes a part of the trend in that area.
This has given rise to a number of Modelling Agencies in the area.
One of such agencies Versatile Modelling Agency with branches in Accra, Tamale, Bolgatanga and Wa is set to set the Northern regional capital with what they call the Northern Fashion Extra.
The event which is scheduled to usher in Ghana’s 60th anniversary in March will take place at the Tamale Sports Stadium on the 4th of March, 2017.
Speaking to Kasapafmonline.com, the CEO of Versatile Modelling Agency Ayelazoya Rinner said the event is to show to the world that there is a lot of talent in the north with regard fashion and design.
This talent he says has not been unearthed hence the event will be used to unearth such talents who will rub shoulders with people in other parts of the world.
He said,” this event will see us showcasing designs made from our traditional smock materials and the models will come from all our branches in the country. This will definitely be the biggest fashion festival to hit us in the north.”
Mr. Ayelazoya was however not happy with the little attention the industry is getting from Ghanaians. He told Kasapafmonline.com, people must begin seeing the fashion and modelling industry as a huge area that needs to be invested in.
We have people who can compete anywhere in the world but our challenge is with how people don’t want to invest in our industry.”
He appealed to cooperate bodies to sponsor the event in order to make it a success.
