The musician who has been tagged as a supporter of NDC after he composed a popular campaign song ‘onaapo’ for them, said he has never been a member of any political party in the country.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Drive hosted by Ike Da-Unpredictable, he indicated that he composed a campaign song for former President Evans J. E A Mills but it was shelved after his demise.

He recalled that he composed a similar campaign song for former President J.A Kufour of New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well before he composed one for NDC’s late Prof Mills.

Nacee said the song wasn’t a hit as compared to ‘onaapo’ because his media connections at that time was limited and that there was nothing like social media to promote it.

‘I am not an NDC supporter, I am not a card bearing member of any political party, I have never been. I composed a song for former President Kufour but it didn’t come out because my media connection was limited, besides the internet was not in envogue, so after composing the song, you just have to deliver to the fellow who contracted you. There was nothing like social media then, no WhatsApp, Facebook, and there were few media houses, though we played it at their various campaign platforms, it wasn’t a hit,’ he explained.

The sound engineer refused to mention the political party he voted for in the just ended elections saying his vote is a secret.

According to the ‘Onaapo’ hitmaker, he transacts business with politicians with different colours saying musicians and people in other fields should be allowed to transact businesses with politicians.

Nacee wondered why musicians and sound engineers are tagged with political colours when they engage politicians.

‘Its not true that I was given billion of cedis for the song, the song is about creativity, hence its streetism touch,’ he said.

He called on politicians to educate the public on the intricacies of politics observing that politics has been characterised with insults, hatred and violence.

‘Political parties especially members of the main parties NDC and NPP need to be educated on how to tolerate their opponents,’ he suggested.
