Touted as the biggest outdoor gospel event in Ghana, the much publicized MTN Ghana Stands in Worship concert last Saturday came to stage at the Accra Sports stadium.
About 15,000 Christians, non-Christians and music lovers generally were seated at the venue to dance and sing to songs of the favourite artistes.
A spectacular feature of this year’s programme was the ‘jama’ performance by the Moral choir of the Royalhouse Chapel and beautiful charismatic renditions by the other churches, including the Viva voices, Boadiwaa and Nana Perbi, all staff members of MTN.
Each performance for the night was unique and remarkable, an indication of thorough rehearsals and preparation to deliver as promised – Ceccy Twum was an angel on stage, Joe Mettle was the fante darling boy and Elder Mireku, the spirited Pentecostal worshipper.
Headline artistes, Micah Stampley from the U. S.A and Nathaniel Bassey from Nigeria took turns each to mesmerize the crowd with many of their popular sing-alongs such as Our God, Holiness, Heaven on Earth, Imela, Book of life, someone is knocking on your door and their popular duet – this God is too good.
Patrons say, though the programme started late, it was a well-organized concert with MCs who were able to engage the crowd, well-coordinated production elements such as stage, lighting, sound and spirited performances by all artistes.
The concert which was organized by Imajin Advertising and sponsored by MTN ended after 2:30am with a huge audience who were still glued to their seats.
