Kumawood superstar Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin has jumped to the defense of Charterhouse PRO, George Quaye after his claim that gospel musicians offer bribe the most to win awards.
The Kumawood poster boy believes Ghana Music Awards is not the only awards in the country which musicians offer something to win awards. The actor cum musician who is expecting four awards at this year’s VGMAs in a conversation with B Ice on Agyenkwa FM in Kumasi said most people win awards at many events in the country because they gave inducement to certain people.
To him, it becomes difficult for the public to realise an individual paid to win an award when the artiste deserves it but it becomes obvious when the individual who paid does not warrant it.
“There is no awards in Ghana people don’t pay something through backdoor but there are certain categories that you cannot pay bribe to win because the winner is too obvious.”
Citing an example, the actor said “Somebody can pay bribe to win best actor of the year award but most favourite actor award is too obvious to give it to the wrong person who paid bribe”.
Because we do not see people paying bribe we are not able to say it but there is no awards in Ghana people do not pass through backdoor. Ghanaians talk about it when it becomes obvious that the person who won the award does not deserve but they keep mute when the case are few.” he added.
