Despite being controversial and mostly in the news for all the wrong reasons, outspoken radio and TV presenter, Afia Schwarzenegger says she is next to none when it comes to parenting.
Many have wondered the kind of mother she is with her ‘unruly’ actions and utterances. But the host of Kokooko says she is a very good mother.
“People can say whatever they want about me but when it comes to my role as a mother, no one can beat me. I am the best mother in the whole wide world”, she told Showbiz in an interview on Monday.
According to the mother of three, her children—James- lan Heerdegen Geiling, John Irvin Heerdegen Geiling and Pena Geiling Abrokwah are her top-most priority.
She explained that everyday except times she is out of the country, she prepares their meals, help them with their home work and sees to it that everything is okay with them before she leaves for work.
And until she comes home, she makes sure she communicates with them all the time to find out what they are up to. “ We all go to church on Sundays. I am always there for them so I can’t see how anyone would say I am not a good mother. I maybe anything but I know I am a very good mum to my kids.
“I didn’t have it easy growing up so I make it a point to be there for my children and always provide for them. I am willing to sleep on an empty stomach just so my children will be comfortable.
“I am also ever ready to let go of any man who is not willing to accommodate my children. It is more of love me, love my dog kind of thing. My children always come first. I don’t exist without them and I guess that is the reason I am in a hurry to return to Ghana anytime I don’t travel with them”, she said. At this point, Afia who has been twice married deviates to talk about the new man in her life, Mr Lawrence Abrokwah, a businessman in South Africa.
“I am the happiest woman in the world right now. Lawrence who I have known for the past 15 years is caring, loving and very generous. I am glad I am in love again with a man who understands everything about me”, said Afia who added that the two will walk down the aisle next month. It will be her third marriage.
Afia Schwarzenegger went on to say she does not believe in beating her kids as a form of punishment. “ what I usually do is deprive them the things they cherish and that works very much for me”, she added.
She added that for parents to have a very good relationship with their children, they should be open with their kids because children tend to hide things from their parents if they are too ‘stiff’.
“I discuss almost everything with my my children and it is amazing the things I hear and learn from them.
Afia Schwarzenegger who has not been on radio and TV for some time sparking rumours she has been sacked by her employers cleared the air saying. “I am still an employee of Despite Group of Companies. I took a long break but I am coming back like never before” she added.
