The actress who has attracted a lot of queries from fans on why she rarely appears in Ghanaian movies during an interview with Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana last Tuesday said she is very selective in her choice of script and thus ends up not landing a lot of contracts, but expressed her interest in Kumawood films.

She indicated that though her selective tends cost her, she believes it is worth paying the price of limited jobs for quality which transcends into a brand for herself as an actress.

She admitted that Ghanaian movies rendered in local Twi dialect (Kumawood Movies) are hugely patronized, reaches a wider audience and actors are more creative as they are articulate in their mother tongue.

“Kumawood movies sells fast and they are progressing at a very fast pace than the Ghallywood films. If you travel abroad, that is what our Ghanaians out there watch and laugh about. These films are humorous and fun to watch. So if they (Ghallywood and Kumawood) could come together to make films, it would benefit both parts greatly,” she said.

“I have starred in a couple of Kumawood movies before… I actually was cast in a film with the late veteran actor Ebenezer Donkor aka Katawere … So I would definitely love to act in Kumawood movies, if only the script is quality,” she explained.

Lydia Forson appears in the much- anticipated movie ‘Keteke’ which premieres on March 4th at the Silverbird Cinemas Accra and West Hills Mall, and screens all through the Independence Holiday Weekend.

Keteke, set in 80s Ghana depicts love, tradition and other aspects of society in a way that is both enthralling and humorous and stars other favourite actors like Fred Amugi, Adjetey Anang, Joseph Otsiman, Clement Suarez, Raymond Sarfo, as well as General Ntatia.
