Ye Wo krom’ hitmaker, Atom has been in the news in recent times for claiming that Apple paid him over $20,000 for using his song at Worldwide Developers Conference somewhere in June 2016.

The artiste in a phone interview with host Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5Fm denied rumours that he sued the Apple Company for using his intellectual property.

According to Atom, his Lawyer sent an electronic mail to the Apple Company when he had the evidence that his popular hit song ‘Ye Wo Krom’ was played during Worldwide Developers Conference.

He further said he knew nothing about Apple using his song and never met any representative from Apple before they used his song.

When asked by the host to disclose who his lawyer was and his law firm, Atom refused to disclose his identity.

“Due to some reasons, I can’t put my lawyer’s name out. We wrote to Apple through email. We told them that we understand they used the song, and they said they thought someone had sorted us out so we should give them 45 days and they will sort us out.

“ I went to Europe, so I left everything for someone to handle. When I returned, I was given between $20,000 to $50,000 by one Nana Yaw who is now acting as my manager. No one called me; I contacted them directly. When I saw the video, we emailed the Apple Company.

“I have never met the lady who played the song. I don’t know she was from Ghana. If someone went behind me to speak to the woman, then that’s miscommunication. Why would I chase someone who has paid me to use my song only for me to go back and request for money? I never said I sued Apple.”

In an earlier submission by Mel Kwesi Davis, Chief Executive Officer of Event Republic and a regular Entertainment Pundit on Kasapa Entertainment claimed Atom goofed in his narration.

According to him, Apple representative came to Ghana for a vacation and had to sample some Ghanaian songs which were topping the chat, but she later asked for Atom’s number to handle those negotiations personally.

“Bozoma Saint John came to Ghana for a vacation and was sampling some Ghanaian songs. She wanted to take some of our songs to the world. She was helped by my cousins (Gideon, Paa John, and others) to get the songs. She later asked for Atom’s number and so she handled those negotiations.”

Mel revealed that even those whose names were mentioned on stage during the Worldwide Developers Conference were remunerated; as a result, he (Mel) was amazed, why Atom granted an interview on the radio to say Apple played his song at the conference, and he demanded compensation.
