Gospel musician Cecilia Marfo has said due to her avowed mission to eternally praise God, a fact reflected in her numerous praise songs, she does not spend her time composing sorrowful music.

According to her, many people often wondered why she constantly sang songs of praise. But speaking on Accra100.5FM’s morning drive, Ayekoo Ayekoo, on Thursday August 18, the Afunumu Ba singer said: “I do not sing sorrowful songs and I will never compose one.”

Cecilia Marfo, who used the opportunity to announce to her fans that she had released five praise albums since the beginning of the year, said she started out as a preacher some 12 years ago, preaching the gospel at the Asafo market in Kumasi until the late Mr Addai of Addai Cutlass fame one day asked her to give a sermon at the Kejetia market square, also in the Garden City. She said that was her watershed moment in ministry, as God used her to impact more lives and saw her venturing into other activities, including singing and worship.

Cecilia Marfo also confirmed rumours that an angel appeared during one of her services. She explained to host Nana Romeo that during her December 31 watch night service in Kumasi last year, a celestial being hovered above worshippers in the clouds.

“So, when you see that, it tells you God continues to intercede for His children because nothing compares to worship. If we praise God, his name is magnified,” she stated, adding that it was a sign of God’s approval of the work of His children and for which reason she would continue to sing songs of praise and worship.

Marfo’s new albums, one of which is ‘O Praise Him’, was recorded by ‘I am Records’ and is distributed by Flex Entertainment.
