When he was asked by host Akwasi Sarpong how he would rate the gospel music industry beyond its spiritual fulfillment, he said the genre is better now than before.

“I think comparing to back in the day, it’s really come far because in this world we live in where everything is falling apart, you need the kind of help and peace and joy. Sometimes you don’t know God is all we need until he is all we have,” he stated.

In the interview, Joe Mettle also indicated that his win at the VGMA as Artiste of the Year was a good augury for the gospel music industry.

“It means for me that anything is possible. It may not be played in the night clubs or the other places but there is a church; there are people that are always encouraged by these songs. It serves a different purpose from what the Afro beat or the hip hop will do, but it still has an influence. It may get you dancing, it may get you grooving but what we do has been sort of over looked for a while but we’re glad that it’s been recognised now,” Joe Mettle noted.

According to Joe Mettle he intends blessing people, touching lives and changing attitudes with his music. He said he wants people to also be encouraged to do what they think are too difficult for them to do.

Joe Mettle brought glory to the gospel music fraternity when he won the topmost award at the 18th Vodafone Ghana Music which was held on the 8th April, 2017 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

He is the first gospel musician to have won the topmost award since the inception of the award scheme eighteen (18) years ago.
