It was a hot discussion initiated by host Arnold Mensah Elavanyo on whether or not morals are key in showbiz.

Critic Mic Yamoah, writer of flex newspaper was for the motion that morals are important in showbiz but Ace musician and Showbiz pundit Willi Roi disagreed vehemently and stated emphatically that morals has no business in showbiz.

The discussion created a lot of buzz with industry giants calling in to share their respective views. Okyeame Kwame, Root eye, Kofi Asamoah, Quophie Okyeame, Kojo Frimpong and Shatta Wale were given the opportunity to air their views on the agenda.

Okyeame Kwame who was first to speak on the issue stated that he holds on to morals in writing his songs, “I always tell people I’m not here to just entertain with my music skill and versatility but to also leave a possitive impact in the lives of my fans”.

He further stated he holds on to Africanism and that is demonstrated in his fashion sense- always promoting African prints. He also stated he values his family and so will not do anything that will morally affect them.

The “It’s Ok” rapper touched on lyrics in respect to morals, he cited Michael Jackson as one musician whose music has good morals in terms of lyrics and so is enjoyed by all age variations.

“I am very particular on the kind of lyrics I put in my songs now, because I have my moral values”. He said.

The “Small Small” hitmaker made reference to a song he did as part of Akyeame titled “Wahye wo kawa”, a line in the song in twi goes like “wahy? wo kawa koraa bra ma y?ntena fis? aha de? obi yere y? obi mpena”. It translates in English “it doesn’t matter whether you are married because here, someone’s wife is another man’s girlfriend”.

Okyeame Kwame stated it was okay singing it back in the days but now he’s not proud of the message that the song portrays on moral grounds and sees it as immoral. On the other hand his Other party Quophie Okyeame disagrees with his former group partner and believe’s showbiz shouldn’t be mixed with morals.
