Entertainment Pundit cum writer, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has said, he believes there is more to ace actor, Agya Koo’s inability to feature more in local movies in recent times than the latter has disclosed, which has led him (Agya) to endorse the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its Flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo.

“We’ve no problem with Agya Koo’s decision since that is his right. We should rather encourage celebrities to come out to endorse their favourite Political Parties and not insult them, but his problem his consistency.

“Looking at the facts gathered it tells you that the man (Agya Koo) hasn’t been consistent especially with the reason he’s given for joining Akufo-Addo.”

He disclosed that ace actor, Agya Koo numerous explanations given for being out of the movie scene lacks consistency to the point of making references to current Government’s bad policies as the cause of his woes hence endorsing the opposition.

“We should tell the gentleman in the face that this the path that you are taking, we’ve no problem with that but the reason you’ve attached to the decision is wrong. You are not being truthful and we should let the celebrities know that they should be factual and consistent. For me that is the only problem I have with him is that. It tells me that I don’t trust him (Agya Koo) and that is one of the problems we have when it comes to celebrity endorsements.”

Speaking to Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5FM, the former RTP spokesperson opined that politicians face high menace since the lifestyle of celebrities who endorse them can affect them in either good or awful way.

“If you aren’t careful and as a politician, you are being endorsed by a celebrity, it’s a risk because the celebrity has a more influence since his lifestyle and what he says can affect you negatively.”

“Once he’s come out to support you, if he act ‘foolishly’ it generates negative headlines. The same way he (Agya Koo) lied and so in some way or the other it can affect Nana Addo’s endorsement because he hasn’t been truthful with his commentary about his reason for not getting roles in the industry.”

According to him, there are many celebrities who endorse politicians without knowing much about the ideologies, philosophies and the policies of the parties such politicians represent.

Due to the huge audience they have, any wrong statement from celebs, in contrast to the convictions of the politicians, could be disastrous for the politicians.
