The sixth edition of the Chale Wote Street Art festival will grace the streets of James Town in its colorful splendor on August 15 to 21, 2016.
This year’s festival will mark the fifth anniversary of Chale Wote’s infusion of art, music and dance music in Accra’s oldest urban fishing community.
After 2015’s well-received, “African Electronics”, the motif for the 2016 festival is “Spirit Robot” geared towards embracing the power rooted in humanity.
The 2016 edition has been expanded to a full week of activities will feature more than 200 artists showcasing a wide array of mediums and projects.
There will also be some international spice with more than 30 artists coming from 10 different countries.
Organisers explained that the idea behind Spirit Robot “refers to the energetic ability of festival participants to create a new encounter with reality that is entirely of our choosing and construction.”
They have promised a vibrant mix of visual art, photography, films, fashion, mixed media, interventions, installations, live music, dance, panels, discussions, tours, food and more to patrons.
