The bank donated a brand new white Toyota Pickup, thousands of buddle of roofing sheets and a hundred thousand Cedis cheque (GHc100, 000) to NADMO to support its activities as the rains set in.

Presenting the items to NADMO in a short ceremony in Accra yesterday on behalf of management, the board of the bank, the Director of Marketing and Alternate Channels at UNIBANK, Clifford Duke Mettle said the gesture is part of its Coorporate Association Responsibility to give back to society.

Mr Mettle said the GHc100, 000 is to help NADMO fight against the invasion of army worm insects that are attacking crops, flowers and even the stalk. The roof roofing sheets are to support Opoku Ware Secondary School, Prempeh College and Bawku Schools (Bawku SHS and Bawku Technical School) whose roofs have been ripped off because of rains.

“We came here for four major reasons and the first one is that as a bank, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is predicated on four pillars education, environmental and health and because of these we have been scouting and monitoring activities in the country and we as a Ghanaian bank when we see that there are disasters, and issues in the country we feel it is our obligation to go and assist and we look at the rains and it has caused destruction in schools up north and Ashanti region.

“We realised that this army worm issue is becoming a national issues so we decided to give GHc100,000 to support ist investigations and NADMO itself are suppose to be managers of disasters and they do not have pick up to go round so we decided that why we not give them a brand-new pick up.

The Director General of NADMO Mr Eric Nana Agyemang –Prempeh who received the items commended uniBank for their kind gesture and asked God blessing for them.

He appeal to other institution to emulate what uniBank has done since the fight against disaster cannot be done alone by the government.

While acknowledging the gesture, he said NADMO has for the past five years have not bought any brand new vehicle therefore the pick up by uniBank will go a long way to help their operations.

“This is great gesture for us since for the past five years the organization itself has not bought a new car and this is something too dear to our heart. A lot of education and people must be oriented.

He said the need to train the youth to prevent disaster is key and appeal to others support the fight.
