Goldstar Air To Train Ghanaian Pilots In Lithuania

Goldstar Air, a wholly owned Ghanaian airline as part of efforts to indigenize its operations and rely on Ghanaians, is to employ retired Ghana Air Force pilots to man the company’s aircrafts.

The retired pilots are to be type rated by BAA training headquarters in Vilnius, Lithuania, which is one of the leading aviation training centers in the European Union, which will be fully sponsored by the airline.

The pilots after completion of their type rating on B737 and B767 will return as first officers of the airline to assist the pilot in command (PIC) by acquiring some more hours in the process and later take over as pilots in command.

The focus of the company according to officials is to promote and protect the interest of Ghanaians.

In view of this, Goldstar Air is accepting applications from suitably qualified Ghanaian pilots and engineers for Boeing 737 and Boeing 767 operations.

Applicants according to authorities must be type rated on B737 or B767, other requirements for the pilot in command (captain) must have five thousand flight hours as commander and at least one thousand flight hours on B737 or B767. The pilot in command must also have a class three medicals.

Applicants applying for First Officer should also have Two Thousand five hundred flight hours and at least five hundred flight hours as a first officer on B737 or B767 and must also have a class three

medicals.

In a press release copied to GhanaWeb, the Director of Communication of Goldstar Air, Mr Theophilus Edzie explained that engineers applying for the job must have a valid aircraft maintenance engineer licence, and must be type rated on B737 and B767 or both on Airframe and Power Plant.

The applicant must also have a requisite qualification on Aircraft Structures and Avionics which must also be type rated on B737 and B767 or both, and any other qualification will be an added advantage.

Mr Edzie also stressed that the company´s plans are far advanced to build a hanger for the Airline in Tamale and will use it as a training school for Ghanaians and Africans as a whole.

“The hangar will be a certified repair station and accommodate small and wide body aircrafts from all over Africa. The Diamond Hanger which is the second largest hanger in Europe will for the meantime be our certified repair station till the hangar in Tamale is completed,” he added.

On his part, the Chief Executive of Goldstar Air, Mr Eric Bannerman affirmed that all the company´s aircrafts are ready for inspection and to fly the spirit of Ghana.

“The wide body aircrafts will ply the long haul routes such as Baltimore Washington, Dubai, Guangzhou and London, with the Boeing 737 being deployed to ply on the West Africa routes such as Abidjan, Banjul, Conakry, Dakar, Freetown, Monrovia and Lagos,” he said.

The CEO however apologized to the numerous passengers who are anticipating Goldstar Air’s take-off to remain loyal as the airline is within shouting distance of commencing operations.

The company in no time unveil the Airline and unleash its attractive travelling packages which includes free three check in bags for its customers.
