Business Journalism Good For Ghana’s Growth

The President of Groupe Ideal, Nii Kotei Dzani has reiterated his commitment to supporting the growth of the financial sector in Ghana adding that good media reportage on the financial sector is key to enhancing good investor relations for economic growth.

Mr Dzani made these remarks on the night of the just-ended 21st Ghana Journalist Awards ceremony at the banquet Hall in Accra. He said the role of in the country cannot be overemphasised. Ideal Finance, a subsidiary of Groupe Ideal, donated two vehicles for the Awards ceremony.

“One of the ways to encourage them to come out with a well-researched and unbiased reportage is to reward a good work as a way of supporting and motivating them thus our gesture,” he explained.

“We are committed to supporting institutions such as the GJA to enhance the standard of excellence in journalistic reportage. Our media have served us well as a nation. There will be no true democracy without a free and independent media. However, platforms like the GJA, allow us to reflect and review the role the media are playing in the advancement of our democracy and development,” he added.

MR Dzani acknowledged that “Ghana is highly regarded as an ideal of hope when it comes to democracy in Africa and cannot afford to lose its integrity. There is the need, therefore, for every Ghanaian especially journalists to ensure that Ghana improves upon its democratic badges which have gained recognition on both the local front and the international community.”

He urged journalists to report accurately and credibly to ensure excellence in the profession. Mr Dzani also used the occasion to call on Ghanaians and stakeholders to be ambassadors of peace before, during and after the December 7 polls this year.
